IT department recently put in place a provision on our desktops which
automatically logs a user off his/her desktop after 5 mins. Is there
a program which you can download and run which fools the desktop from
logging off. This may seem like a juvenile question, but any advice
would be greatly appreciated.

I have and that is the issue, they would like for it to log off, I
would prefer not.
I was just wondering if there is a program I can leave active on the
desktop that prevents logging me off.

Just tell them having to log on again and again is hampering your
productiveness.
