A solution to copying Blu-ray to PC for playback on home theater via Xtreamer

Nowadays, people like using media centers like Xtreamer, Popcorn Hour, Tvix, Mvix, etc. to bring all the media contents from PC to living room for enjoy with the whole family or friends. As general DVD and HD DVD have given way to Blu-ray to some extent, many movie fans are turning their intention to Blu-ray instead, thus this thread aims to introduce you how to copy BD movies to the hard drive of PC for playback on your TV or home theater via Xtreamer. Please feel free to read on the detailed instruction below.

Some info you should know:

Xtreamer supported video formats:

MPEG1/2/4 Elementary (M1V, M2V, M4V)

MPEG1/2 PS (M2P, MPG)

MPEG2 Transport Stream (TS, TP, TRP, M2T, M2TS, MTS)

VOB

AVI, ASF, WMV

Matroska (MKV)

MOV (H.264), MP4, RMP4

FLV - Flash Video

Since Xtreamer supports .m2ts, we just need copy Blu-ray to HD directly, and keep its all initial data without any change, including the .m2ts format, so there is no need to worry about if the backup files will get some video loss or something else unexpected.

Step 1: Launch Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper and load Blu-ray files to it

Once you launch this program, the following main interface will pop up. It enables you to click “DVD Rom”, “DVD Folder”, or “IFO/ISO” to import Blu-ray files.

 <<-- click to expand

Step 2: Choose “Directly Copy”, set destination folder

After Blu-ray files are loaded, now you should click the drop-down list of “Format” to select “Copy” firstly, and then click on “Copy Directly” next to it. Meanwhile, press the folder icon in the opposite side of “Output” to specify save path of output files. Of course, you can skip this step, because this program will give you a destination folder set by default automatically. BTW, if you want to join all the files to be one file, you can tick the checkbox before “Merge into one file” to realize it.

Step 3: Convert

As soon as the former two steps are done, now you can click “Convert” button to begin conversion. Do remember click on the “Start” button after that. The ripping window will show you the conversion info including conversion progress, time elapse, time left, generated size, estimated size clearly. It also allows you to tick “Shut down computer after conversion”, so that you can go out for a walk, even take a nap, or do something else while conversion.

 <<-- click to expand

After copying work is over, you can find out the resulted .m2ts files by clicking button “Open”. Afterwards, connect your PC with your home theater via Xtreamer, and now you can enjoy the movie with your family or friends leisurely.
