I recently stumbled into a malicious site when I tried to
find a program to restore deleted emails and I got hit by
some diallers - and something that now prevents me from
opening Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer windows. I
used Spybot S&D to get rid of the diallers - but that
something is still there. Can anyone help?

Turns out that the malicious program installed a toolbar
that hijacks Internet & Windows Explorer (I have XP SP-2
and this probably means that the hijacked explorer.exe or
iexplore.exe process is immediately terminated). Goes by
the name of Tubby.Toolband and dumps a file called MTC.dll
into the Windows\System\. Got rid of it with HijackThis
1.98.2 - notified the good people at Spybot S&D to look
into it in the future.

Cheers.

HijackThis is an excellent tool, but it requires expert skill. Here are
links to help you with HijackThis, including a tutorial and sites where
you can post your logs and get expert advice.
