If the router at your main site is a VPN end-point type router, which you
seem to indicate it is, then why not have the remote sites connect via a VPN
tunnel and then run Remote Desktop through that. No need to change any
listening ports on either PC at the main site, etc.

What model Linksys router do you have?

Thanks Al,
I have the RVS4000, I thought with a VPN tunnel the remote sites also have
to have a static IP
address?
Thanks alot for the help,
Craig

For help setting up and using a VPN to that particular router I would post
to the LinksysInfo.org forums. They have the experts...

http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=128

Beyond that this page may help you accessing two or more PCs behind a
firewall with Remote Desktop. Use a *STRONG* password in all cases...

http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/RemoteDesktop/Multiple_PC_RD.html

Another option is to use Secure Shell (SSH)...

http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/Ssh/SSHTunnelierLAN.html

If you go the SSH route then I suggest using copSSH and Tunnelier. You can
configure Tunnelier at each remote site to automatically launch a Remote
Desktop session to one PC when the SSH tunnel is established. copSSH is an
installer for OpenSSH/OpenSSL/cygwin and is updated as those are updated.
copSSH can run on an XP desktop or Vista desktop for that matter...

http://www.itefix.no/phpws/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=vi...page&PA
http://www.bitvise.com/tunnelier

How to secure your copSSH server and generate a public/private key pair for
strong authentication...

http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/Ssh/SecureYourcopSSHServer-Vista.html
http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/Ssh/Private-publicKey-Tunnelier.html
