VPN * Can no longer create or use exsisting VPN definitions

Looking for some help..... I am not sure what has changed or happened but
the result is that on my XP Pro SP2 machine I can no longer use VPN Clients
that exsisted and worked just a day ago to connect. I also attempted to
create NEW VPN Clients using the wizard and even though I select workplace,
do not dialup an initial connection etc.. when i finish the saved Cleint
profile is created as a DIAL-UP type connection.

Please any suggestions to save me from a format and a rebuild of the entire
system
