I cannot print. I cannot add a printer. The Print Spooler is set to start
automatically but does not stay started. If I restart the Spooler Service,
it only remains running until I try to add a printer, then the Add printer
wizard won't run, reports error "the operation could not be completed," and
the Spooler Service is stopped. I have tried system restore, I have edited
the registry and deleted the Version-x subkeys and extra monitors, I have
tried logging in on a new/different user account...nothing worked. Any clues? |

I am running into the exact same problem, but have yet to find a solution. I
have over three hundred identical workstations in my building, all configured
exactly the same, but this one is causing me grief.
Let me know if you find anything.
Thanx.

Anyone find a definitive answer to this one yet? I'm still having the same
problem...on two workstations now.
Thanx.

Both of the answers you posted Cari state they are for XP-based systems. I
may be confused but I am on a Vista Business computer from Dell 32-bit. Will
these fixes work or not?

They certainly should do but you should be posting in the VISTA printing

Cari,
How can you clean the spooler in Vista? Your link is for xp and earlier. How
do you delete the drivers in vista?

Cari Hi,
I just added a fresh install of vista Ultimate. I just bought a cannon pixma
mp530 with the latest Vista Drivers. The driver will not even install for the
first time. When I run the driver CD, It tells me right away that the "It
cannot instal this software because the print spooler will not run". Then
tells me to restart the computer or the spooler. The spooler is set to auto,
But when I hit start in services, It comes back with an error 1067, It tell
the prccess has terminated unexpectedly. Could there be something wrong with
my Vista Cd? Or can I remove the spooler somehow and replace it? I am at my
wits end here.
