Hi,
I can start a remote assistance connection OK, but when the Remote
Assistance window opens I can only view the other person's desktop. The Take
Control button and all the others are missing.
Anyone ever seen this and resolved it? If so, how?
Thanks,

Its possible their PC has a group policy set to only allow the Expert
(that's you) to view their desktop and not take control. On their PC and as
an administrator go to "Start -> Run" and type gpedit.msc to open the group
policy editor. Navigate to the "Local Computer Policy -> Computer
Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> System ->
Remote Assistance" tree and check the properties for the "Solicited Remote
Assistance Policy".
If their PC is part of a domain environment (ie. not a stand alone PC in a
home work group environment) they may need to talk to the network
administrators about this.

Hi Al,
That wasn't it, it wasn't configured, so I checked it through control panel
and everything looks OK.
I wonder how I can get her to connect to something via port 3389? Although
if the port was blocked I shouldn't be able to see her, correct? We can
establish a connection, but it's view only.

Right, it comes down to a permissions issue of some sort because you are
connecting so its not a port blocking issue...
Hmmm... Let me think about this. I rarely use RA so I am kind of grasping at
straws right now. Hopefully someone else can chime in with a useful
suggestion...

Try this:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_sup...t/brows
-or-

This will cause you to reload the ActiveX control...
