Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>video (more info?)

hello,

I have a sony dcr-trv19. (PAL)
It plays an old NTSC tape fine.
When I connect the fire wire cable and want to capture the NTSC video in the highest quality with movie maker,
it automatically sees its a PAL machine and the video becomes scrambled.
Extra>Options>Advanced>NTSC doesnt change a thing.
I want to force WMM to read NTSC, is that possible?

thanks
frank

Your VCR doesn't convert the tape.... it outputs a signal that your tv can
interpret..... if you're going to capture the signal, you're going to need
a multi standard multi system vcr...which will output a pure NTSC signal
rather than the pseudo PAL one that the current vcr outputs or one which
will actually do a total conversion.

The Samsung SV5000 is the multi system vcr I have.... which will do what you
want.... although there are a couple of others out there... an Aiwa and a
Panasonic come to mind..
