I have 400 customers to whom I would like to send a one page pdf file. When
I select the "Fax" printer, the address book opens, and I select all of the
customers and hit "send". The fax console then only shows the LAST 20
selections listed in the outbox.

Is there a setting somewhere that limits this number? Is it a hardware
limitation based on my system (RAM)?

Does anyone have a better idea for broadcast faxing? Winfax Pro won't work
with Win XP SP2!

Thanks!

You must be kidding. Broadcast faxing to 400 recipients requires high end
enterprise fax software and a fax card supporting multiple lines. Surely you
did not expect fax software that uses only a single line and that is
supplied free with your OS to handle this kind of task. If so, think again.

Did it using Win XP SP1 and WinFaxPro every month for the last three years
without any issue at all - until I installed SP2. Maybe I just need to go
back to SP1 and WinFax Pro. Funny how older technology works better!

WinFax Pro is very definitely NOT Windows XP Fax! XP Fax was NEVER intended
for broadcasting and I've never seen it send to more than 5 or 6 recipients
without choking. You need commercial Fax software. WinFax Pro *IS*
commercial software. The fact that Symantec no longer supports it is most
unfortunate, but a fact of life. There is a very STRONG probabability that
some other commercial Fax application will do just fine with a broadcast
list that big , but I can guarantee you, it will never happen with Windows
XP Fax.

Troy,

I regularly send out broadcast faxes using Windows Fax- switched over from
Winfax 10 after repeated problems with the software after they stopped
supporting it. Here is how I get Windows Fax to work:

Close Outlook and the fax console before opening the pdf you want to fax.
Send it like you normally would to the entire group. As long as BOTH of
these programs are closed, all of the people in the group will appear in the
outbox. Then wait a couple of minutes before opening the fax console. If
you open it too early, it won't have had time to load all of the faxes and
you will have to delete what is there and start over.

The only problem I have noticed with using this for broadcasts is that
sometimes it tells you it failed to connect or that the number was busy, and
it actually went through. I would recommend limiting the number of retries
to 1 or 2.

Also, WinFax has a patch that will work with SP2- but the program has
multiple other problems. I was having to reinstall the program every couple
of days because it would freeze upon opening it. You are probably looking
for build 10.03 of WinFax Pro.

Enjoy!
