Can anyone help. My battery ran out on my Ipaq while I was away on hilday
so I recharged it and entered the same device ID as I had before I went away
but Activesync doesn't recognise the device and wont sync with it. Can any
tell me how I fool the desktop into recognising my Ipaq again as I can't
restore the full backup I did before I went away.

Any help greatly received as this isn't the first time I've had this
problem.

I'm assuming all information in the Pocket PC was wiped
out. You should give the PocketPC a new name and create a
new relationship. I've had nothing but problems with
trying to "save" the pre-existing relationship. The most
horrible of all was to have it erase everything in the
desktop. You are better off creating a new one. All your
data will be copied over from your desktop to the device.

Create a new account with a new name and once synced drag and drop the
contents of your organisers old My Document directory into the new
directory. Once you've keyed in the settings you had before everything
should work as before.

If you actually have a full backup, let AS connect the 'new' device as a
guest. You can then use the restore function to restore from the backup
file. After the restore, you will soft rest, and your device will be back
the way it was at your last backup. Be prepared for a few glitches if you
sync'd a few times since the last backup, but it will straighten out.
