I believe that your IPAQ has the Wifi capability built-in. All you need now
is an account with a service provider (e.g. T-mobile Hotspots, etc). If you
do not want to be limited to "hotspot locations" then you will need to
sign-up for a data plan with your wireless provider (ATTWS, Verizon,
T-Mobile, etc).

Under the latter approach you will need to either:
a) Get a GSM modem card an additional account for the IPAQ (not
recommended)
b) Get a mobile phone that can connect via Bluetooth (don't mess with Irda)
with the IPAQ. I have AT&T and use the Siemens S56 which works very well
but there are several other brands (Ericcson T610, etc) which are probably
equally as good for this. The other advantage of going Bluetooth is that
you can share contacts, files and work with other bluetooth devices
(headsets, USB-PC).

Good luck

This depends on where you are. I suppose you meant iPAQ 4150, otherwise
dieregard my posting... Wink))
With the 4150, you have Wifi and Bluetooth integrated.
So being in an area that has Wifi coverage (your local Starbuck´s, train
station, airport, wherever), that helps you getting online, a subscription
to the WLAN service is of course needed for billing purposes.
Taking a mobile with bluetooth gives you access to the net and email as a
service of your "normal" phone subscription. Downside: Speed.....
