Pocket PC update

I received the new Pocket Pc 2003 today, to update my
iPAQ 5455. I have carefully gone through the list of
things to do before upgrading. When I get to the part
that actually installs the ROM from my computer, the
Active sync connection at the PDA quits and then the
computer hangs. Any help would be appreciated.

Which operating system is your computer running, and are you
using serial or USB connection to sync your ppc?
