Post subject: toshiba e310 activesync problem HELP!!!!
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc>activesync (more info?)

I have a Toshiba e310 and I am running Windows XP Pro on a Dell
desktop.
I have installed activesync 3.5 and have downloaded the most recent
driver from toshiba for the unit (as least I think it's the latest,
version 1.0.1.0, it's from their website)
When I put the pocket PC in the USB sync cradle, active sync on my
computer turns green and says that it's connecting, but it never finds
the unit.
For the first couple of seconds I do see a message on the e310 that
says - "status" - connecting to host, then it disappears and nothing
happens after that.
The device manager does see the e310 and says the device is working
properly and it shows up as the e310. In active sync I have it
pointed to the USB port. I can;t seem to get a partnership established
however.
There are no other USB devices plugged in and I have already reset the
PDA once. I also noticed the same problems when trying to install it
on my windows 98 machine @ home.
What the heck is going on here?

I've heard rumors that toshiba has a USB patch fix for this????
where can I find this. anything else I should try???

thanks in advance, tim

tim,
Here is where the usb update can be found:

http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-
bin/tais/su/su_sc_modItemList.jsp?
ProductMenu_0=PDAs&ProductMenu_1=Toshiba+Pocket+PC&ProductM
enu_2=177045&BV_SessionID=@@@@1581387328.1062052404@@@@&BV_
EngineID=cccjadcjemjdmemcgfkceghdgngdgli.0&moid=177045&smoi
d=true&ct=DL&ListType=Model&x=13&y=3

there is also an update to activesync 3.7, but i think the
usb update is only compatible with 3.5

hope this helps.

Thanks for the link. After pulling my hair out for 2 days, I finally
figured out that there was a bent pin on the PDA and it was not making
proper contact with the cradle. I couldn't believe it! Hopefully
after getting it fixed all will be well again.
