I've been having a persistent problem with ActiveSync that
has recently decided to turn a bit more serious.

The PocketPC: An HP Jornada 540, connected via a USB
cradle.

The OS: Windows 2000 Pro

ActiveSync version: 3.5 or 3.7; I've tried both, and have
reinstalled each at least twice now.

The problem: Originally, sychronization worked OK but I could
not see any files on the PocketPC from the desktop; under "My
Computer," I was able to find the "Mobile Device," but upon opening
that window it would come up blank.

Now, synchronization has stopped working completely. When the
PocketPC is placed in the cradle, the ActiveSync icon turns green
and both the desktop and the PocketPC seem to think that they're
connected - however, no information is transferred, and there is
no way to manually initiate a synchronization (most of the options
in the ActiveSync window are grayed out).

Any suggestions? I REALLY need this to work again soon, as I
have some travel coming up and need to get a lot of information
from the desktop into the Jornada.

Thanks!

Bob M.

A couple suggestions.

If you haven't already done this, try uninstalling Activesync one more time,
REBOOT the desktop, then reinstall ActiveSync.

Before you reconnect the first time- soft reset the Jornada.
