Post subject: e-mail and attachments with my t-mobile pocket pc phone ?
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc (more info?)

I have been trying to send e-mail with my t-mobile pocket pc phone using the
pocket pc 2002 inbox. I enter "500" in the "To:" section, then I enter the
recipient in the first sentence. The result is a unreadable e-mail. Is there
a correct way of sending e-mail via my pocket pc? Also, it possible to send
attachments, i.e. photos?

Thanks,
Gil

The T-Mo "500" trick isn't really e-mail. It's the way to send an SMS
message to an e-mail address (rather than to another phone.) It, like
any other SMS is limited to 160 characters and doesn't support
attachments.

The Inbox program on a PPC (at least a "regular" PPC- I don't have a
Phone Edition model) is for POP3 or IMAP4 ("real") e-mail and isn't
compatible with SMS text messaging. You need to configure a real
e-mail account (POP or IMAP server) or add a PPC SMS program (if the
PPCPE doesn't already have one installed.)

Configure and use your regular ISP's e-mail account. It will overcome
the limits of SMS and won't cost you anything in message charges.
