Post subject: ipaq will not allow partnership
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc>activesync (more info?)

I have an Ipaq 3870 which ran well for the last 12 months but crashed and
hard reset itself two days ago
I restored a backup and then attempted to set up a partnership but
Activesync goes through to naming it (the old partnership was deleted) and
then pops up a grey boxheaded Microsoft Activesync Unrecoverable error.
Please disconnect your device and restart Activesync ( this is difficult to
close down by pressing the Ok button, frequently requiring the Task Manager)
It allows a guest partnership but not a full one.

I tried to hard reset the ipaq so it had no information and then retried:
same again

I installed Active sync 3.7 : same again

I cradled it in my friend's notebook, which runs with a similar ipaq and
this same thing happened with Activesync

Each time it fails it remembers the partnership name and I have to make up
yet another one (is there a way of wiping these out - Itried deleting the
Profiles folder in the Activesync folder in Documents and
Settings/<user>/Appplication Data/Microsoft/Activesync)

CAn anyone help or do I have a hardware problem????

Try performing another hard reset, and see if it helps.

I have done hard resets several times
and retried the whole routine ie on two different machines after a hard
reset each time

What is strange is that the Ipaq allows guest access but not a partnership
but when I try to create a partnership i get past the putting in a new name
for the partnership but then the error message comes up and it is almost
impossible to close this message box - on several occasions I ahve had to
use task manager

Aslo how can I wipe out the many partnership names that have been created on
each try -

Hrmmm... unusual... it may be a hardware problem.

You can wipe out the partnership names by going File -> Mobile Device
-> <partnership name>, then File -> Delete Partnership.
