HELP says:

"If you want to create a folder to which you can drag items for
safekeeping or to distribute to another computer:

Create a new data file (.pst) and drag items to it. If you used the
default name for the folder when you created the data file, the folder
will be called Personal Folders . In the Folder List (Folder List:
Displays the folders available in your mailbox. To view subfolders,
click the plus sign (+) next to the folder. If the Folder List is not
visible, on the View menu, click Folder List.), drag any item from your
current folders to the new folder. Press CTRL while dragging to copy
items instead of moving them."

I have a folder named 'Notes'. I created a new data file named
'Notesbu'. When I drag an item from 'Notes' to 'Notesbu', a new window
opens that I have not been able to figure out what to do with, to get
the item to be in 'Notesbu'. There is no mention of this window in HELP.

The window that pops up is titled "PDA/Additional Programs o(1) -
Message (Rich Text)" (I haven't the faintest idea why the Note item
seems to be recognized as a PDA Note item.)

The remainder of the window seems to be a text editor window with a
standard menu and editor toolbar (Send, Save, Print, etc.), plus a
formatting toolbar. There is a field for 'To:', 'Cc:' and 'Subject'.
The latter is filled in with "PDA/Additional Programs o(1)".

TIA for any help.

First, we assume you mean outlook on the pc.

(I agree with you that the Outlook help is not very helpful.)

The simplest method is to disconnect, close outlook, then find your
outlook.pst file and copy it to a backup location such as a CD or
another computer on the network.

The location of the .pst file varies, but on XP it will be in your
Documents and Settings tree... simply search for *.pst

On the PocketPC, you can achieve the same result by running a "backup to
memory card" of the "PIM Data" Most PPC's ship with a backup utility in
ROM or on the companion CD... just make sure you specify "memory card"
and your memory card has enough space to hold everything in RAM if you
do a full backup.

Happy Holidays,
