Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc (more info?)

Hello,

About to update my mobile phone and I'm looking for recomendations for one that will work nicely via Bluetooth with my Acer N50 Premium Pocket PC (WM2003 SE).

I've tried an Orange SPV C550 Smartphone (WM Phone Edition 2003SE) and while some areas were brilliant other areas were very poor such as Bluetooth services - only direct service was dial-up networking. The Bluetooth Beaming option for sending files just didn't work most of the time for 1mb+ files.

Looking for:

Good Bluetooth Services (File Transfer etc)
Email Client ( Don't need "Push" capabilities but one with option to "Pull" email automatically at set time intervals.

My daughter's Motorola E770+ works better with my Pocket PC than the Windows Smartphone I tried (SPV C550)!

Main use is as GPRS/3G modem for PocketPC and as "Header Only" Pull at regular intervals email device etc.

Many thanks for your time and advice, it's very much appreciated.

Best regards,

Andy D.

I've had very good luck with my Audiovox SMT5600, which is now about a year
old. Personally, I've found a Windows Mobile-Powered Smartphone to be the
perfect companion to my iPAQs and Dell 51v. I've had virtually no problems
using the BT connectivity to get online with my other devices.

I haven't looked much, but I think you could get a good deal on an SMT5600,
since it's so "old."

I have an Imate SP5 and cannot use it as a modem using Bluetooth. I am
trying to connect to an Imate jam (which does not have a SIM card). I can
create a partnership, but for some reason cannot create a 'dialing'
connection

Did you follow my tutorial on using PPC PE devices as modems with other PPC
(and desktop) devices/computers?

http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=510&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

I'm absolutely sure it'll work (assuming, of course, you put in a SIM card)
