I run Windows 2000 under a very restricted environment where I do not have
administrator or even power user rights. When I log on often my ActiveSync
reports an error:
WCESMgr.exe - Application Error
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to
terminate the application.

The only way to overcome this so far is to "restart" while keeping your
fingers crossed behind your back.

Suggestions?

One cause of this is Symantec Corporate AntiVirus 8 - the solution is
to upgrade to 8.01. The other solution involves procedures that
require administrative rights.

What is the other one? I can get our administrators to resolve.

"One cause of this is Symantec Corporate AntiVirus 8 - the solution is to
upgrade to 8.01. I will forward this on to them as well since we are running
8.00.9374

The other doesn't apply if you have Symantec Corporate AntiVirus - the
problem is with Symantec Corporate AntiVirus. The other solution
involves a registry change to increase the size of shared memory to
initialize new applications.
