I've looked all over the web (still doing so) but I'm unable to readily see if
there's an adapter / lead to connect the charging / comms port to a USB
flash memory storage device, ideally one like this http://tinyurl.com/ywrq6

does anyone know if such a produced exists ?

thanks in anticipation

The physical hardware to do this only exists on a couple of PPC, some
Toshibas, and some Casios. The issue is that USB is a Host/Client process,
and both USB drives and most PPCs are clients, which cannot communicate with
each other. The couple that do sport USB Host ports, are hampered by lack of
driver support. I don't think I have heard of anyone getting a USB drive to
work on one of those. The drivers mostly support keyboards and mice, as I
understand it.

Thanks for the info Sven,

I sort of realised after posting the question that the PPC would probably have
issues seeing the USB pen / flash drive. ah well, there goes my cheap memory
idea I suppose I'll just have to bite the bullet and buy a 512Mb SD card.

>> there goes <<

Not necessarily...

There are several "flash drives" that are based on SD/MMC cards. The
card is the common central storage and the usb allows connection to PC's

SanDisk has a couple and Lexar has a small unit that takes
SD/MMC/MemorySticks for $20 Happy with my SanDisk SDDR-93 unit as it
also has USB boot drive capabilities.
