Post subject: I have a cable, mobile phone & h5555. how can I receive faxes? PLEASE HELP
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc (more info?)

I live in the United States and have Verizon as my cellular phone
service provider. I have an LG VX-4400 Mobile phone and an iPAQ h5555
Mobile 2003 Pocket PC with a cable from www.thesupplynet.com such as
the one at this web page:
http://www.thesupplynet.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=7093

I have been able to successfully use this phone, cable and iPAQ in
order to add an ISP Connection under the iPAQ’s Settings\Connections
and access the internet through the mobile phones modem and Verizon’s
web access.

I am very interested in purchasing your Pocket Phone Tools 4.0 Pro
software or a program like it so that I can send and receive faxes via
my phone into my iPAQ and I have downloaded your trial software, but I
have not been able to figure out how to get the trial version of Phone
Tools to work. I'm not even sure if it is the software that I need or
even if it is possible to get it to work with this configuration.

During the initial install and setup process of Phone Tools the
software does successfully detect an unlisted phone on Hayes
Compatible on COM1, but if I select status, I just get only question
marks in the test results screen. I haven’t been able to get the
device to send a fax or answer a call and receive a fax either. Am I
doing something wrong?

I really don't care if Phone Tools is THE software taht I need. Any
other suggestions of a program that will do what I want and tips to
accomplish it will be very helpful and appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!
Regards,
Steve B.

Steve,

If your problem is only faxes, take a look at KSE Truefax.

Helio,
Thanks for the response. I did take a look at this KSE software and
sent them an email when I wasn't able to figure out how to work it.
This is the response that they sent me. Is it incorrect? Did they
misunderstand my situation and give m ethe wrong info?

Dear Steve,

If you are using a cable to connect to your Ipaq then I must assume
that
your LG cellphone doesn't have an infrared interface, i.e. modem.

If you do not use a CF modem card or a cellphone with integrated IR or
Bluetooth-modem, you are not able to use KSE Truefax.

Are you using a wireless service from your provider to be able to
connect to
the internet?

Regards,
KSE Software
