Post subject: How to activate Reader on Mobile 5??? Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc>ebooks (more info?)

I have an HP 2400 handheld PDA running Windows Mobile 5.0 and installed
Microsoft Reader v. 2.4.1. On my computer I am running Windows Vista Business
and when I try to activate Reader, I receive a message that says, "You have
an older version of Pocket PC which does not support Activation. Activation
requires Pocket PC 2002 or later.", which is incorrect.
Web searches have shown that I may need the file "oeminfo.xml", which I
found and downloaded and am supposed to put into my Windows file on my Pocket
PC, but for the life of me, although the file is in the synchronized file
folder on my desktop, it will not show up on my Pocket PC, therefore, I can't
move it to the Windows directory.
Is there some other workaround? I have an expensive eBook I purchased that
I'd like to access on my Pocket PC. I don't understand why this is an issue.
Thanks to anyone for any help,
Martin |

Martin,
I'm not sure why your sync program isn't picking this file up. You might
try copying the file to an SD card or other removable media to transfer the
file to the \windows directory of your device if you can't copy it via
Explorer in Mobile Device Center for Vista.
Sincerely,
Christine - Microsoft Reader Team
