Hi I had a similar problem with a Ipaq 5550 recently...
The way I got around the problem (I think) is as follows:
1) Set your WIFI connection's "Connects to" drop down
to "Work" ( its under
Settings/connections/connections/advanced/network card->
(Select WiFi card for editing)
2) under the "select networks" section set both option to
connect to my work network and edit the settings under
both to ensure that the proxy settings "This network
connects to the internet" check box is set. (its under
Settings/Connections/Connections/advanced)

Myles
