I'm seriously considering running out Pocket PC's all together, and going
for the Palm Tungsten C! What's not to like?

Thanks,

No Bluetooth. No Graffiti. Tiny 5-way button.

Check out the Tungsten T.

No internal mic, very short WiFi range, No Graffiti 1.0 - it does in fact
allow Graffiti 2 onscreen, plastic case with easy to scratch finish, iffy
built quality (most units seem to rock back and forth on a table top between
two corners, varied range of pressability of the action button between
units, some units with dead pixel rows).

As for items more frequently found on PocketPC's to miss on the Tungsten C:
-4 wire SD instead of 2 wire SD slot
-separate DC port for charging alternate
-swappable battery
-Stereo headset output (while maintaining mic headset input, as on the
H54xx, and Toshiba e75x, and others)
-USB host enabled port

And yet, for lack of a better device in this OS camp, the Tungsten C happens
to be my current device.

Or wait, and check out the T2 soon, and the T3 later...

I dropped my Ipaq 3850 for a Palm. I have both a T|C and a T|T. The
T|C is a better machine than the Ipaq for almost every reason. What I
don't like about it: Mono headphone jack, no external mic for voice
memo. I can lkive without the bluetooth. I do like the keyboard on it
and I do like the SD card slot.

The ONLY thing I do not like about the T|T is only 16MB of RAM. It can
get annoying to have to pop open the cover to write on it but that is
more than offset by the compact size.

WiFi is far more ubiquitous where I work, so I put more value on that
than Bluetooth.

As for graffiti, I thought it was the only way to input and I've been
proficient with graffiti for the last four years. However, give the
keyboard a try for a few days and I suspect you'll never go back to
graffiti.

I think all PDAs are a compromise, but while the C is but-ugly
compared to the T, having 10 hours of run time, a sharp screen, a
keyboard, 400mhz and 64 megs of ram sure makes it a joy to work with.

Wait: ten hours of run time? Ten hours on a color device? Are you serious?

I wouldn't go back to a dim, dark-grey-on-light-grey palmtop, but I do
miss the days-long charge my Palm Vx held.

I recently left my 3955 for the T/C. Do I like it? Well, there are
trade-offs.
I like:
not one single crash or reset in 2 weeks
hot-sync being trouble free for me
long battery life in comparison to the iPaq ( I can get 3-5 days as I don't
use wi-fi that much, but I am an avid e-book reader)
starting to like the keyboard more and more
choices as far as my business programs (the sky is the limit on the Palm
system)

I don't like:
lack of stereo
lack of extensive graphics (I know the Palm does games, but I do miss Age of
Empires and Hyperspace Delivery Smile
a little smaller screen (but that leads to more battery life; again a
trade-off)

Would I ever go back to PPC? Maybe, but for now Palm meets my needs.

My .02 worth

Good luck.
