Just got a new 4155, and in looking around, I discovered the Theme Generator
that is downloadable on Microsoft's web site. However, when you go to design
a theme, it won't install on the 4155, apparently because the generator is
designed for PPC2002. Is there an upgrade for 2003? Is there another theme
design tool?
I can't imagine that theme design can be all that tough - it's just a
graphic and a set of formatting instructions, right? Is anyone doing it for
PocketPC 2003, and how?
TIA! |

Common question.
It DOES work, just not the way it's advertised. You have to manually drag
them into your PPC.
Themes are put, by default in My Documents/My Device Themes
ActiveSync connect then click EXPLORE and drag them into MyDocuments on your
PPC. You can make a Themes subfolder if you prefer.

I am pretty sure that the .tsk file has to be put in the \windows directory.
A subdirectory has not worked on my Axim X5

Don't worry about installing on the PPC, so long as you can install it
on your desktop. It'll create a theme file wherever you save it to, with
a .tsk extension (I think it is). Just put that in your My Documents or
Windows directory on your PocketPC simply by activesyncing and hitting
'explore' and you'll then have access to the theme from your tools>today
settings.

that's wrong. It's enough if you put the .tsk file in the my documents
directory.

I think the question was whether they would work out of
MyDocuments\Themes\. Many things don't work out of subdirectories. I know
that themes will work out of My Documents or Windows. I tend to keep mine
under windows as I consider them sort of system files which I don't need
cluttering up My Documents.
