Subclassing Textbox (edit control) - Compact framework

Thanks for your respectable time to help others.
I would like to paint text box in different colours, like for
instance, overriding the Paint method so that so that I could change
text font colours.
Could you give me a brief explanation how I would do it for the
compact framework please? I understand that there is no compact rich
edit control.
