My iPaq 3870 is inconsistant in recognizing SD cards. It will do it only
when it feels like it. I try rebooting, making sure it's tight, locking,
unlocking, etc. I can't get it to read the SD card when I want it to.
There doesn't seem to be anything in CE help. Any suggestions on how to
coerce it a little?

For my 3870 it helped not having the card in at Soft Reset, but
only pressing it in when the device was fully functional after
soft reset.

On the other hand, there are times I can only get my 3955 to recognize a
card by doing a soft-reset with the card in place.

You need to upgrade the firmware of your iPaq to the latest version. I think
version 1.20 has the fix that will enable you to read multiple format
SD-Cards without any booting or problems.

I always had the problem with my 5455, even after all the updates. It was a
pain in the rear!
