When I lose my partnership with my handheld device I must re establish a new
partnership, When
I try to tell it to use the one I have It will not allow me to. How can I
re-establish my orginal partnership?

You can't re-establish your original partnership per se - it was lost
when you hard reset your device, etc. You can delete the old
partnership by going File -> Mobile Device and selecting the
appropriate partnership then going File -> Delete Partnership. Once
you've deleted the old partnership, you can recreate a new one with
the same name.
