Maps and Streets

Is there a way to change the color background of the maps besides the two choices?
Any work-around or third party on this one?

The choice is "light" or "dark" background.
The "light" setting has white background and light-brown streets.
The "dark" setting has light green background and white streets.

I can hardly see the streets on either setting, specially on bright sunlight
with a display that is trans-reflective. The display works great in sunlight, the more
light the better, BUT the streets don't show very well.
