I've got an HP iPAQ 4355, and I thought it had infrared
capabilities, but I cant seem to access them.
Does anyone know if this unit has this ability (sorry for the noob question)

Please post specifically what specifically do you want to do via IR?

The specs indicate that it has ir, check the manual for the port location

Take a look for start/settings/connections/beam which should indicate
that you have it, then, with the beam option on and using a laptop or pc
with known working ir, bring the ir windows within 3" of each other and
look for a response in the systray ir icon on your laptop.

thanks Beveryly!
Yes it does have it. I was trying to get my phone addresses to beam
from my cel phone to my iPAQ via infrared, but it doesnt work. I guess
the devices are not compatible.
(nokia phone)

at least I know how to use it now.

thanks again,

steve

hmmmm. After aiming the IR ports together, they try to connect...
the iPAQ says "Establishing connection with Nokia 6360" (that's the
model phone I have), but the phone says "failed connection".
harumph.
I've been spending hours loading in data, and still have a long way to
go, I wish I could make this work.
any suggestions?

>> phone addresses <<

Your best bet on this is probably going to be to get them into your pc,
then import them into outlook (outlook has a good import wizard) then
sync the contacts into the ipaq
