Cannot Hard or Soft Reset Sony Clie T665C

I cannot either hard or soft reset a Sony Clie T665C. In following the
instructions, the unit appears to re-boot, showing the date/time
screen for about a second and then I get a message that says "HOLD" in
a box for about a second and the screen goes blank and the power stays
on for about three minutes. Only cccasionally, can I get the memo
about "Do I want to hard reset, if so press the "up" key. enen then
the result is identical to that mentioned above. Does anyone have any
thoughts?

Chances are that your Clie is in HOLD mode - check the slider on the left!
