Using Windows XP, OfficeXP, and Jornada 548 PDA. With Active Sync the PDA
conncects, Notes is sych'd, but Calander and Address Book are not. They are
flagged as needing attention. I receive a message regarding pim mgr not
running.

I have tried about everything, that I know of or heard about. I also get a
msg to set up a profile using the mail icon in the control panel. There
are two accounts set up there "Outlook:" and an account the same name as the
PDA device name trying to connect.

I tried repair of the Outlook data. I tried repair under Outlook install.
I downloaded and installed Outlook Service Pack 1. All to no avail.

Where would I look next?

Once you repair Outlook, reinstall ActiveSync.

I have just this afternoon uninstalled Active Sycn. Restarted the computer
and reinstalled Office XP professional. Then I reinstalled Active Sync.
Tried to connect the Jornada. I can sycn favorites, but cannot sync
anything from outlook. When trying the first message is "No profiles have
been created. To create a new profile, use the Mail Icon in the Control
Panel".
Then the second message is "Sychronization cannot be completed because your
personal information manager (PIM) program cannot be accessed. Ensure your
PIM program is running and try to synchronize again. If your PIM program is
running restart your desktop computer."

I receive that sequence of messages twice in trying to sync the calander,
contacts, tasks and notes, all which fail.

It does it on two different Jornadas. One of the Jornadas I can take to
another computer and it works fine (it's home computer) so I do not believe
it is the equipment or the software on the devices. It still leads back to
something in Outlook or in the Registery. What do you think.

Can you try creating another user on the computer and synchronizing
via that user to see if the error message still pops up?
