Hi
I have used my mobile (WM5) to sync my office PC and my private PC for
all of outlook.
I now have reinstalled the private PC with W7 pro 64bit. I moved the
pst file from outlook as well and outlook is running as before.
How do I proceed now with the synchronization?
I am afraid it doubles or deletes all the entries if just attach the WM
device since it looks at it as a new synchronization.
Thank for any hints.

The best way to avoid dupes, IMO, would be to move all the Contacts and
Calendar items on the "new" (reinstalled) PC to a subfolder of he default
Contacts and Calendar folders (to keep them safe from syncing or deletion-
Windows Mobile only "sees" items in the default folders) and delete the
partnership with this PC in Activesync on the device. Normally this
would delete the data on the device if this was the only partnership, but
since the other partnership is still there, it won't (or at least it
shouldn't!)
Now connect the device- this will prompt you to create a new partnership.
Go ahead, the select "combine" when prompted to combine the device's
data with the PC's or replace the device's data. Now the data on the
device will sync to the "empty" folders on the PC. You can then compare
the default folders to what's in the subfolders to insure it all synced
and then delete the subfolders at your convenience.
If, for some reason, anything goes wrong and any data is deleted, you
have the good data in the subfolders to repair the damage. |

You can just cut and paste them. I go into a list view (like "Outlook
Data Files" view) and select them by holding CTRL and clicking on the
items to move, cut them, switch folders and paste.

OK, I did exactly this. Everything worked fine for the private PC. I
only have the problem that I encontered a lot in the past with Outlook -
it always messes up (doubles, triples ...) with birthday entries in the
contacts: All of the birthdays of my contacts appear twice in the
calendar now. For now, not on the private PC, but on the mobile, and I
am sure if I sync to the office PC tommorow there will all be twice
there too.

Just deleteing is the easy part ... I dont need a KB for this
Solving or preventing the issue seems to be the harder one.
Thanks anyway

Have you tried deleteing the calendar with the duplicates, then import the
calendar items from the other outlook.pst file then resync?

Sorry, I hadn't considered that possibility- moving the contacts into a
subfolder apparently did not remove the related calendar entries (birthdays,
anniversaries) they created in the main calendar. When you copied the
contact entries back into the default folder to sync them with the device, I
suspect that's when the duplicate entries were created, since there are now
two copies of each contact in Outlook- the default folder's and the
subfolder's.
What if you delete the contacts subfolder (presumably it's no longer
needed)? Do the duplicate birthday/anniversary entries get removed then? |

There is definitely a bug in the activesync, either in 4.5 or in the W7
version together with OL2007.
- I deleted all bday entries from all calendars
- I recreated all bdays on office pc normal serial element
- synced to mobile -> perfect on mobile and office pc
- synced home pc -> all created, but, with a repeat sequence of 12 years ?!?
- corrected on home pc - synced to mobile -> perfect on mobile and home pc
- synced to office pc -> changed all entries from 1 year to 12 years
sequence
active sync and OL2007 mixes up / changes 1 to 12 years on series
elements. I am afraid I will never get that correct.

This seems to be a known issue with OL2007:

Does anybody know if there's a solution 'in sight' for this?
Thank a lot
