There's not enough information here to give a comprehenxive reply.
Activesynch is the link (there are others) between the PC and the ppc.
For more information you might try a search at:

Short answer, "no, but"

There are several methods to do what you need, ironically none include
usb. several are;

network file transfer to/from shared folders... with a wifi connection,
tap the icon at the lower right of pfile explorer

serial connection using a terminal program... most terminal programs
such as vxHPC have file transfer protocols

IRDA works with any laptop or pc with an ir dongle to transfer files

Hope this helps...

the only way i know of to transfer files without installing active synch is
to do it with wireless lan or wired lan but you would only be able to access
open network shared drives from the ipaq you would not be able to access
files on the ipaq from the host pc.

have you thought about a usb card reader that would take one of the formats
supported by your axim. ie:

copy file to cf card . place card in usb card reader. and insert into usb on
host pc?
