Hi, Can someone tell me why, on my ipaq5550 there are two
alarm bells displayed in the bottom right hand corner of
the screen that when tapped do nothing? Can I get rid of
them?

Try soft reseting... they should dissappear.

I haven't encountered that... but that notification icon appears if you set
your notificatins not to display a bubble when an alarm fires...

Maybe you need to clear your notifications
