My IPAQ 3870 recently completely powered down, now when I try to activ sync
with my DESKTOP I find that my IPAQ fails to recognise any partnership (it
still syncs/recognises the partnership with my laptop) and I experience
'connecting' or at best a 'guest' with no sync taking place. I have tried
resetting my IPAQ with no result. I have also tried reinstalling activsync
with no result. Any ideas?

Are you using the latest version of ActiveSync, I think it is 3.7.1? I was
having problems until I removed it and then reinstalled it. I also make sure
to always have my IPAQ 3635 turned on when I dock it. I haven't had problems
since.

Good luck

When you say "completely powered down", are you saying that the device
performed the equivalent of a hard reset (all data on the device lost)? If
so, your iPAQ also lost partnership information, which would explain why
ActiveSync is giving you "Guest" at best.

If this is the case, I would suggest cradling the device, then using the
"Get Connected" option to try and re-establish a partnership.

Don,

Thanks and 'yes' I did lose all data including obviously the 'partnership'
information. However when I cradle my IPAQ I do not get an option to create a
new partnership...........no 'wizard' ....it just seems to 'connect'
