Activesync to iPAQ 1940

I want to be able to have diary items on my iPAQ that I do not sync with my
Oulook calendar on my laptop. I can make entries private but it only seems
to allow me to have diary entries in Outlook that are not on my iPAQ, not
the other way around.

Can this be done ?

I think your only option is to use the notepad. Although a copy of the
file would still be lurkiing around it would not sync with Outlook.
