Post subject: ActiveSync restore question
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc (more info?)

I recently dropped my PDA in a puddle and it defaulted to factory settings.
It has dried out and now works. I want to restore the data previously held
on my PC.
I tried to do the following:
-Set up a new partnership between the PDA and my computer. It does not back
up all the original files.
-set up a guest partnership. I direct the dialogue to folder containing the
name of the previous device but it say it cannot find ###.stg.

Please can someon tell me how to restore the device?
Many thanks
John

Do all that Ed said and then thank the puddle-gods that your PDA still
works.

Thanks Gents
.. I have tried that but when I choose the old partnership it says
"the selected backup file is not valid, select another". The partnership I
direct it to is definately the one the device backed up to before the puddle
episode. Any other ideas?
many thanks

John,

By the sounds of your last message I don't think you understood Ed's
instructions properly. Lust to double check....When you cradle the PPC
choose to sign in as a guest, then in the Activesync window choose
tools/back up/restore, and restore. this should bring you back to the
state you were at when you made that backup. You can then sync as
usual from there.

Dave
