Post subject: 1945 or 4155, Linksys or Belkin BT, AS 3.7.1 - no joy
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>pocketpc>activesync (more info?)

I have been trying to use AS 3.7.1 (and on occasion go back to 3.7) with
Linksys BT (USBBT100) then Belkin (USB BT adaptor) on my IPAQ 1945. I can
get some services to work. No problem with the generic serial port, but when
AS is activated the green ball spins (actually even with the IPAQ turned
off) and says getting connected and finally ends with saying the device is
not recognized.
I have followed advice from several groups: pairing and unpairing,
authenication, passkey, soft and hard boots, et al. I have tried, among
others, the guide at http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=1423 Of
course also the one my MS at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support/pocketpc/tshoo...ctivesy
and the HP one at
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/hub_search/document.jhtml?lc=en&docName=c00031208
Also checked this BB at
http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=d463eb30bafefcc8f58...f33d0dd
What do I do next? After an hour on the phone with Linksys supported, I was
told to get at least a 2120 after they tried to get me to configure the
server in AS (tools/options). If I trade in the 1945, I might go to the 4155
but will that make a difference? I have Linksys wireless router (802.11b) at
home. Would it be better to try and use the router at home rather than BT on
my office computer? Both pcs are Dell 8300s with Xp Home.
For now, AS is the primary service I need from my pda and hope to purchase a
cell phone to do the same. BTW, AS works (with one small calendar issue)
when using the USB cable attached to the 1945.

After scanning other messages here again this morning, let me add a little
more. All my computers (2 pcs and one laptop) have Outlook 2003.
Finally, I looked at the HP compatibility list at
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/wireless/wpan/btcompmatrix.html#usbadapters
Is this in fact saying that ONLY TDK adapters are approved? I have not read
that in the HP forums where some claim Belkin works but then I find out they
are adding the Amazing Bluegear.

Hi,

I have an iPAQ H5450 and and Belkin USB BT dongle (model F8T001), and I use
AS 3.7.1 (and XP Home). I followed this instruction:
http://www.logodesignworks.com/iPAQ-activesync-bluetooth-synchronization.htm
and it works for me.

(The Belkin dongle was unstable under Win2k, but works perfect under XP with
the same drivers, but I realize that's not your problem.)

Good luck,

Anders

I wish I had seen this before turning in my Belkin USB adaptor today. I
started with a Linksys USB but turned it in, then did an uninstall before
installing the Belkin. The tabs that I see in the picture you have are not
what I saw with the Belkin on my laptop and desktop. For example, the
InformationExchange tab. I think that would have made a difference.
Thanks for your help.
