Suddenly, it is taking an inordinate time to open or save a PP presentation. Yes, it size is 52MB, but I have worked with heavier stuff and it has been OK. And it is not just a particular file. It's all of them. FYI, these files, like most, are being saved in .ppt format.

Thanks much.

I'm not certain that it's the complete answer, but I believe a part of the
problem is that the files are in the .ppt format. As a result, each open &
save operation requires a conversion... Not so noticeable with new/smaller
files, but as the files get larger the delay increases significantly. This
is especialy pronounced if you're using 2008 features which aren't supported
in the older format, such as charts, Smart Art, etc. Try saving one of the
problem files in .pptx & see if you experience the same performance issues
when working with it.

Thanks for your reply. I think it makes sense. I though that as well, but was not sure. I actually saved PP documents in .pptx and it IS faster. What I have not found out yet is whether or not I will have difficulties opening them in a Windows XP MS Office environment. I have to use both comps.

Thanks again.

I think you are right. I saved that particular .ppt file (which is large) as a .pptx. It opened fairly quickly.

Thanks for the hint.

Glad it helped!

As for transporting, it depends on your version of PC Office.

If Office 2007 there should be no problem as it uses OXML as its native
format. If Office 2000-2003 you'll need to have them properly updated &
install the free MS OXML Converter package.
