Is there anything on Mac that's similar to Qcheck that lets you see
the wireless speed from a router? Also, it seems liek no PC Cards work
with a PowerBook because there are no drivers, right? Or am I missing
something? The card just shows up as an icon and says power down but
the Mac doesn't seem to recognize it as a network card otherwise.

You need a driver. There are several out for MacOS X, for example I'm
using a Belkin card. Do a Google search for "wireless driver mac" and
see what comes up.
