I took a plunge into a better cellphone account after iSync was able to
work with cellphones other than GSM and my regional mobile phone service
came up with a halfway competitive plan. In fact, I bought a second
Motorola V60i for my wife.
But syncing between the Mac (Pismo firewire G3 running OSX.2.6) using
Address Book, iCal, iSync and the phones isn't very satisfactory.
Company names seem to display ok, but people names are sorted by first
name.
And the phone assigns each entry a speed dial number. The manual tells
me that the first 9 or 10 can be dialed with one keypress, and tells me
how, on the phone, to change the speed dial number assignments.
Is there any way for any Mac program to see, and change, those
assignments?
For that matter, can Truesync, the synchronization software now
apparently owned by Motorola, deal with speed dial assignments?
I guess I could put up with syncing names to the phone after I'd
massaged them in some third-party program, but I'd hate to have to use
VPC just to use Truesync.
I should add, though, that I ordered it via ebay to see what it can do
after I looked through a number of sites for its features.
Anyone have suggestions, observations?

That's the phone, not the address book. (Personally, I prefer that.)

No. But, if you set it in the phone, later syncing won't change it.
