Post subject: dell inspirion 510m

please can someone help? i have a dell inspirion 510m laptop that the
screen does not come up but when you connect an external monitor to it
it displays properly. the signaling cables have been changed but still
no luck. can anyone provide me with a clue?

You've landed in a Macintosh group, not the best place to find advice about
your Dell.

Most laptops have a function key combination that switches between laptop
display, external display, both and sometimes even a TV output. Perhaps your
computer's set to external only.

Check the user guide to see what key combo to use for switching. Usually you
press a key labeled "Fn" plus one of the function keys.

Like Steve says, Dell can tell you for sure, but in the meantime try Fn+F4.
