I'm looking for a way to hook up an external SCSI hard drive to my iBook
-- what's the best adapter to do that (USB or Firewire)? Obviously I
can't install a PCI card. I don't need OS X compatibility, and it would
be nice if it were compatible with my Umax Astra 1200S scanner and my
Syquest EZFlyer 230. I saw a hub that had a serial port, too -- is
there a combo adapter that would support my serial Wacom Artz II?

For what it is worth, I bought a Belkin USB SCSI Adapter F5U115-UNV. Best
buy is thru eBay.
The purpose was to handle my Zip, Jaz, Scanner <Umax 2400S> etc with access
in both directions with my iBook. The gear usually runs with my older SCSI
G3.
It does work, but not every time and only one SCSI unit at a time. I find it
hard to recommend but it may be the only way to do it. Also SCSI appliances
are notoriously dodgy when in line and best utilized singly.
My iBook is OS 9.2
Good luck
