I tried out a service that let me web pages by clicking in its icon in
the bookmarks toolbar, but I didn't like it. Now I can't get rid of the
icon - on Safari, I drag that thing to the trash and it disappears. On
Firefox, it pops right back to the toolbar.

Firefox help doesn't offer any help on this. Clues, please?

Right click on the bookmarklet and choose Delete. If you are on a Mac
with a one button mouse, Use Ctrl-click to get the contextual menu.

PS I love my logitech umpteen button mouse on my Mac.
