Hello

after exchanging the internal HD on a PB G4 12" 1Ghz i have the
following situation:

- no internal harddisk ist recognized (ether by Harddisk utility nor
system profiler
- Same situation with the old working HD
- no Problems to boot from DVD or external HD (USB or FW)
- in Openfirware i did:
reset-nvram
set-defaults
reset-all
- I suspeced the flat HD cable because i stressed it a little bit when
disassebling it. I measured the connectivity but could only verify parts
because i have no exact pinout plan. For examle datapins 8-15 are not
connected.
- The Harddisk is spinning. I noticed that in standby mode the HD is
resetting every ~30s.

What could i do for further investigation? Are there terminal commands
for diagnosing the ata-bus?

thanks in advance and greetings
christian

Might it be easier / more expedient to simply replace the cable with a
new one?
