I subscribe to several groups using MT-NW 3.5.3b3 and Font and Size
is different for some groups. I was under the impression the Preference/
Fonts applied to All groups.

How can i correct the one or two with the non standard Font and font
size?

Most of the times the font size change is due to one of the posters to
the newsgroup using a foreign language font, if you select that posting
and mark it as read, close and reopen the group the standard size font
will return.

I have that in MT-NW 3.5.2 frequently. I wish there was a setting to
override the foreign language font as well, so I didn't have to follow
the above work-around...

Solved!!! I figured it out myself. I Unsubscribed from the newsgroup
with the tiny font, saved then quit MT-NW. On the next start I subscribed
to the newsgroup again, marked all read, saved and quit again. The next
time everything was back to normal.

Problem solved!

Not really solved. The problem was a given post (or posts) was in a
different language. All the unsubscription/restarting stuff you mention
was just leading to you marking the given post read, thus taking it out
of the list next time.

You are correct. The small fonts are back again and I do not
detect any non English postings. The tiny font makes MT-NW
almost useless.

Help... how can I regain normal font size?

Why not just go into MT-NewsWatcher Preferences > Fonts > Screen Fonts,
and set the same font and size for every possible language there?

Send responses to the relevant news group rather than email to me.
E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my very hungry SPAM
filter. Due to Google's refusal to prevent spammers from posting
messages through their servers, I often ignore posts from Google
Groups. Use a real news client if you want me to see your posts.

That's already been answered in this thread.

I don't see this happening very much, but I remember noticing once
that the Edit>Decode as> menu had an odd font choice. Selecting one
of the "Western ..." fonts worked, IIRC.

Ah! I hadn't realised you could set for each language separately when
I first looked at that pane.

It would still be nice if MT-NW would use the appropriate font and size
for each article in the group list window _individually_, so that a
stray chinese spam or three would not result in all the Western encoded
articles being listed in a different font/size to my specified defaults!

I think we all tried that a while back, and it doesn't help with some
encodings. This has been a persistent nagging "bug" in Newswatcher for
years.

Thanks..... looks like I will just have to live with it. Can't really
tell what message is messing up listing.

The only work-around I've found is to use Hogwasher Wink

If you don't care to read the foreign languages, just change all of the
font settings for each of the 12 languages in the Fonts section of the
preferences to the same font and size (e.g. Lucida Grande 14 or whatever
is your preferred size.)
