I am planning on buying an Ipod. I want to use it for working out. I
run alot and will be using it while I run and lift weights. If I use
it while I run will it damage the harddrive. I have a Creative Nomad
2 now with a card but it doesn't hold enough songs so I am looking for
more capacity. Thanks for the help.

I've had a bit of trouble with iPods and running. It will skip/lock
sometimes if I have it, say, fastened to my waist. It's perfectly
fine if I keep it in my hand or, when on the treadmill, clipped to
the cupholder (with a folded towel between the iPod and the cupholder
itself for padding/shock-absorption).

But that's just me. And two iPods.

One thing to remember, though, is that the iPod caches up a heap
of sound so it'll only spin up the hard drive momentarily to
refill the cache. Most of the time, while you are using it,
the hard drive is _not_ spinning. You're not that likely to
actually damage the iPod. It's got something like 30+MB of
buffer space. With typical Mp3 compression, that's a half
hour or so.
