Help troubleshooting external FW drive

Greetings!

I am running OS X 10.2.6. I have an external FW box containing a 250 GB
hard drive. Today upon startup the computer did not recognize the drive
and it didn't mount. I tried DiskWarrior, Disk Utility, and Drive 10,
none of them saw it. My Apple System Profiler crashes for some reason,
so I couldn't see if it recognizes it. It is daisy-chained with a like
drive in a similar box, and swapping their positions on the chain
doesn't affect things. The other box is recognized and mounted even when
it is second on the chain, so it isn't a cabling or port issue.

To pursue this further I can swap the drives in the two boxes and see if
the currently unmountable drive shows up (that would presumably tell me
if the problem is the box or the drive). That's not convenient at the
moment, so I wanted to ask if there is any other utility I could
download which might help me troubleshoot?
