Post subject: Edit vs Point and Enter mode in dialog boxes
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>mac>office>excel (more info?)

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I'm using both xl 2004 and 2008, and I've come across a little but bothersome problem. I frequently edit contents in a dialog box expand/collapse box (examples: the Refers to box in the Define Names dialog box and the Source box in the Data Validation dialog box when List is selected in the Allow list).

I need to get into Edit mode in these expand/collapse boxes so I can use arrow keys and Home and End keys. In Windows versions of Excel I just press F2 and I'm there. In the Mac OS versions, CTRL+U works fine to edit a cell, but it doesn't work in the dialog boxes.

Is there a way to get out of Enter and / or Point mode in one of these boxes and into Edit mode when working under Mac OS?
